Andy's first blog post

Andy here.  Yes, I've been given the "keys" to the blog.  Hopefully I will be able to bring regular updates and some photos of the Midi Smiddy and keep you informed on how the Cyc'd guys are going.  As Kent mentioned we have all been fundraising and training for this and are all looking forward to the challenge.  The weather forecast is looking dampish - but we know that forecasters have been wrong before.  Here's hoping.

My wife, Tracy, is also joining the ride as crew.  Rumour has it that part of her duties will be the washing of 50 pairs of sweaty knicks each night.  I haven't told her this yet!!

Here's hoping the technology works and that the wind is always at our backs.

Cheers

Andy

Midi Smiddy gets ready to roll

This Friday morning the Midi Smiddy ride will get underway and we're very proud to once again have a number of our club members involved in this great event which raises money for cancer research.

The event is held over three days and will see the riders cover 570km through south east Queensland.

The guys have been training the house down and all are in excellent shape for the ride so we wish them a safe and enjoyable ride particularly up the Toowoomba range on day one and the long climb up to Queen Mary Falls on the third day.

The guys from Cyc'd Cycling Club have raised $7,000 for cancer research which is a great effort.

Here's some photos of the guys from the club who will be heading off on Friday:

Cyc'd boys take charge at Lakeside

Well I couldn't make it to Lakeside track today to see it for myself but when you have four strong riders turn up to race you know its going to be on!!

Row fresh from the half Smiddy and the 1000ks it put in his legs just over a week ago was joined by Greg last start winner Craig and new Cyc'd member David in B Grade. This was David's very first race and all kudos for him in tackling B Grade in his first outing.

I don't have the full report to hand but I hear the boys really shook it up with numerous breakaways particularly from Row and David.

Greg came away with a great second so the boys were very happy with that.

Photo of the day goes to this one of David leading the field in yet another a breakaway....well done mate.

Cyc'd Cycling rider smashes Noosa 160k

Last Sunday David Collyer, a new menber of the Cyc'd Cycling Club, ventured north to do the Noosa 100 mile ride.

We all knew David was in pretty good form and with a great course and perfect weather it was no surprise to any of us when we heard that he absolutely smashed the 160ks in just 4hrs 51mins at an average speed of 33kph and in doing so came in 33rd in his age group......Well done mate!!!

You can check out his Strava data for the rdie at http://app.strava.com/rides/7947477

Here's a view pics of David enroute to a great time in the Noosa 100. Great to see him promoting our great sponsor Cyc'd for Bikes!!
