Last week Mark "Sharky" Smoothy announced that the 2011 fund raising total was $710,000. This makes the total money raised since 2006 to over $2 million!!
The $710,000 is the net fundraising result for the year which will directly benefit world-class medical research.
It is a fantastic result and a significant contribution to researchers like those at Mater Medical Research Institute. The funds will allow researchers to continue their work to understand and treat this devastating disease. Other beneficiaries of funds include PA Research Foundation, Melanoma Patients Australia and Flinders Medical Centre Foundation.
Team POWERADE through the efforts of Gav, Brad, Dammo and Kent contributed over $60,000 towards this total and with Lucy, Craig and Rowan now well entrenched members of the team that total is over $75,000!!!
A number of Team POWERADE members will be taking on the 2012 Smiddy Challenge and we look forward to supporting them in their fund raising efforts and training.
