Hello all, Welcome to our Blog site which Kent has done a great job setting up. Take the opportunity to check out some of the previous posts while you are here.
Well, another month has passed and one that has been full of training and fundraising efforts. Thanks again to some very generous people I have now reached $3,110 which again I am overwhelmed by the support I am receiving. This takes our team tally just over $19k thanks to some great work by the remaining guys in the Cyc’d team.
The training this month has been quite challenging riding some 1100 klm’s while climbing 11,753 metres. Thanks to an organised training ride I managed to achieve my longest ride ever of 200klm in one day which resulted in 7.5 hours in the saddle from Fernvale (a mere 6 degrees at 6am) through Esk and up the range to Crows Nest and back. It is overwhelming when you think that another 7 days of this and we would be in Townsville. Could I back up for another ride the next day? Yes, but I think I may have struggled if we had to climb that many hills again.
With regards to fundraising, we have been keen selling raffle tickets and organising some fund raising activities. I have jotted below some dates during June: -
June 5th – Bunnings Cannon Hill Sausage Sizzle. Come on down and enjoy a snag and grab a cold drink as well if you have the chance.
June 9th – Thanks to McGuires Hotels there is a lunch being held at The Paddo which is one of the first of the Locker Room Lunch series that will involve some special guest speakers and great prizes and auction items to raise funds for The Smiddy Challenge. A big thanks to Matt McGuire and Matt Coorey for their support and energy on this event.
Also a special mention needs to go to my wife (Fleur) as she has been wonderful with taking up the slack at home while I am out training. Couldn’t do it without you sweetheart.
If you wish to donate to my fundraising page, you can do so through the link below

Alternatively if you have any ideas or feel you could sell some raffle tickets on our behalf, don’t forget to drop me a line as we would be very greatful.
Thanks again for your support and until next month, give a thought to those who have been touched by Cancer as I have nothing to complain about waking up at 3:45am on a winter’s morning in comparison to what some people and families are going through.
Cheers
Riding 1600kms in 8 days, that’s hard... Donating to cancer research, that’s easy.
